Paranormal News Weekly Roundup – 1st December 2019

Overview…

As each week goes by I often find myself stumbling across various news, social media posts, blogs, articles, books, TV shows and more in relation to the paranormal. Often some of these pass me by never to be seen again, which can be a shame as when I see them I know that I want to read more on them. However, it can often be the wrong time, there are other more pressing things to take care of. As we are often bombarded by lots of this such information only a daily basis, a lot is lost in the digital ether.

So, what I wanted to do with this regular post is attempt to gather some various pieces of information that others like me may be interested to read. I’ve broken this down into a few categories below for now, hopefully you’ll like it – would love to hear your thoughts on the matter?

Couple Records ‘Best Bigfoot Footage Ever’ After Spotting a Dark Figure In Utah Mountains

Okay so other than this piece of paranormal news having the longest headline ‘ever’ it is also not something that occurred this week. It was featured on the Daily Star (that hugely reliable tabloid press) website back in August. However, I did notice that it managed a re-post on the socials this week, so thought I would include it. Espeically as I recently watched a documentary on Bigfoot and my post this week is based on the hairy fella that likes to hide in the wilderness of the americas.

Have a read of the online article, take a look at the attached video and photographs. Then let me know what you think in the comments – certainly worth a discussion perhaps.

The Daily Star Article on the Bigfoot Sighting

Here is a few of the items that caught my eye this week on social media.

Okay I’ll be honest, I don’t watch a whole lot of TV these days. However, I understand that its become quite important to the paranormal community, so I will do my best to find links to some paranormal TV related stuff.

  • Help My House Is Haunted returned to our screens on the 7th November, don’t forget to tune in and catch the latest episodes with the new team.
  • Hellier 2 – The fantastic series that appears to bridge varying aspects of the paranormal returned for a second season on Friday, available from Amazon Prime. However, the series should be moving to YouTube – if you’ve not seen season 1 then catch Hellier Season 1 Here… – I’m currently half way through season two and absolutely hooked, expect a future post on it for sure.

This section is somewhere I would like to share a few of the events, investigations, conventions and more that may interest you all. I’ve started with paranormal stuff happening in the UK, as that’s my home country, but may expand to other countries should this post be popular abroad too.

I often spend a lot of my time reading paranormal related blogs, books and articles. So, I figured this would be great to share with you all too. Blogs and online articles are often a great way to discover more on the paranormal and even challenge your own perception of some concepts. There will also likely be items from published journals and magazines too in the future – which of course will be limited to those with memberships to those organisations.

Although generally the idea of this post was to share some of what catches my eye in the paranormal field week to week. I thought it would be good to capture some of this stuff in one place. Makes it easier to find right?

However, there’s always going to be stuff I miss, so please feel free to send me items and I may include them too. It’s a good way to share a lot of what’s happening out there in the paranormal world.

Please feel free to like, share, rate, subscribe and comment below…

  1. Ashley, according to Keith Linder, the ‘Australian Institute of Parapsychological Research’ is due to release its report on the Bothell House case, today. Have you received any notification of such?

  2. Ashley, I have just read your review of ‘Attachments: Poltergeist of Washington State Part 2, by Keith Linder’
I ask; why is it that you continue to encourage members of the public to purchase a book; concerning a case of most probable fraud?
Are you not concerned that in doing so, you are helping Mr Linder to promote his fraud?
There is mention of a third book. Do you intend to promote that as well?

    1. I think the answer can be found in the phrase ‘probable fraud’ and the fact that we currently we don’t know conclusively if this is fraud or not. At least I’ve not concluded either way at this point. Making rash decisions based on what we believe to be the case rather than weighing all the details does not allow us to conclude correctly. We simply fall into the position of constantly being believers of fraud rather than a believer in the activity for example. I’m simply encouraging, until greater knowledge of this case is presented, others to evaluate the case and have them decide. Something which isn’t possible without reviewing ALL of the available data.

      1. I use the term: “probable fraud” in the sense that Mr Linder has not yet been convicted of ‘criminal fraud’ in these matters as such. But it is surely not a rash decision, in light of what has transpired so far, to suggest that fraud is the motive behind Keith Linder’s creative haunting.
It is not tenable for yourself to keep taking the line that all the evidence has not been evaluated yet, and that prevents you from making an ‘a priori probable’ judgment.
If you, an investigator of these matters, cannot bring yourself to make that judgment; then how can you expect the general public to draw their own conclusions upon the matter? To that end, what does encouraging the public to purchase Mr Linder’s books amount to? A third book is planned. Maybe then a fourth,..then a fifth? At what point do you intend to come down from the fence, concerning this case?

      2. It’s not so much a matter of being upon a ‘fence’ it’s simply because I myself have not evaluated the case to date. As previously mentioned, whilst there are elements that trigger the old ‘boggle threshold’ – as paranormal researchers and investigators we must be open to the possibility until at least all material has been evaluated. Personally I would like to look into this case, but I currently have far too much on. After all I have a day job and children too. I’m neither promoting or discouraging the purchase of Linders books. If anyone wants to buy them that’s up to them and as my reviews have testified these are particularly easy reads in my opinion. Linder presents a massive personal account with lots of media to review – which I’ve barely scratched the surface of. Whilst you’ve seemingly made your mind up on this case, on what basis have you reached that verdict. Has all the possible information been balanced accordingly in order to reach the position that you believe Linder is presenting a fraudulent case? Probably not, but then I can’t make that assumption as I am unaware of the work you’ve done so far.
If we make quick fire judgements on cases of phenomenon then we may not fully understand them in depth. I currently have no discernible position on Linders case as I’ve only read his account and seen the episode of Ghost Adventures he was on. Am I sceptical – yes to an extent and of course. Do I think everything Linder reports on is paranormal – probably not. However there’s media to review. Witnesses to interview and research to be done – before conclusions can be made. One does not read a book based on one perspective and pass judgement on that alone, it would be poor research.

  3. Anything is possible’ and I am not suggesting poor research by yourself. However, in this case, you intimate minimal research by yourself. And yet, this is the second occasion in which you have done a review of one of Mr Linder\s books. And still, you recommend that the public buy his books as a possible case of poltergeist activity?
Quote > “should you read this book?…..My answer is yes – if you have an interest in poltergeist cases, psychical research or hauntings at all then Linder’s account is worth your attention.” “Something which isn’t possible without reviewing ALL of the available data.” < unquote, then it is surely of equal importance to the general public? In that case, shouldn’t you be actively ‘discouraging’ the public to purchase the said books? And until such time as all of the evidence has been published, let alone evaluated.
A casual observer can see quite clearly, without purchasing anything, that the format that Mr Linder employs, is repetitive. A tried and trusted formula in which he evidences and records supposed activity himself, and then makes the call to paranormal experts (some, of more dubious expertise than others) and then relies upon their minimalist findings, to bolster his own so-called investigation and findings?
Then, we have another period of waiting, until such time as all the evidence has been evaluated. As far as that goes, it appears that we could wait forever! I am still waiting to hear of Dr Barry Colvin’s report into the rapping sounds that were made by Linder, and which he (Colvin) was given. That was several years ago!

    1. To be perfectly clear, I am neither encouraging nor discouraging people to purchase anything. That is their decision to make based on my review, other reviews, their own interest in the case and more most likely. My review is of the book and the case it presents not the case as an entirety. I have not for example interviewed or discussed in-depth the case with Linder, Mera, Philips, Tina and others presented as witnesses from the book alone.
Linders case requires much more work than simply reading a book in order to properly review the case. Regardless of what my initial thoughts of the case are, gut feelings or observations of his ‘tried and tested formula’ a case review requires just that.
My initial question on this matter would be to ask; who other than Linder has witnessed physical activity and would they be willing to be interviewed about their experience within the Bothell House? That way at least we could begin to assess the witness testimony of this case. If that is weak then we begin to have evidence to support your belief that the case is probable fraud.
Have you read and watched all available information on this case ? Spoken to anyone that supposedly has witnessed activity alongside Linder ? If not, how do you conclude the case to be fraud?

  5. I’ll just put the missing part in here, if thats ok?:-
< those sentences should go between, ".worth your attention"/ and/ "Something which isn't…"
There, I hope that is clearer?

  6. Nope! Here we go again! 5th time lucky? :
You even provide a link to where one can purchase his books.
That you have now done this on two occasions, must qualify as book promotion. One asks; did you choose independently to review his books, or; were you asked to do so?
If the evaluated evidence is of such importance to yourself, quote >< those sentences should go between, ".worth your attention"/ and/ "Something which isn't…"
There, I hope that is clearer?

    1. Stuart. I chose to review the first book for my own website and I was asked by the SPR to review the second one.
Let’s try looking at this differently as you appear to be taking issue with the promotion of Linders book. Why is this ? My reviews are only my opinions and it’s my opinion that from a research point of view it’s an interesting account. Why? If it’s true, then it’s a remarkably detailed account of the events as they unfolded and Linders understanding of them. Detailed witness testimony. If they turn out to be completely fraudulent, then equally we have an interesting insight into the mind of someone presenting a case of fraud.
Equally my opinion is only one opinion alone, cases such as these require many more to help us deliberate the truth. Between you and I we have two now, but more would be better.
I believe that the SPR in London May have had a discussion group on the case, which unfortunately I missed, but I will see if it was recorded and if so look into the opinions from that discussion. Equally ASSAP had him present at their conference on the case this year so there maybe some ASSAP members with a position on the case.

  7. Ashley, please don’t ask me to communicate through other mediums. I had enough with that medium that called me ‘Gonzo’ in Enfield.

  8. So, your view is that the books are worth purchasing, whether they’re true or not? Whether the activity was real or fraudulent? Surely, it concerns yourself that Keith Linder is fraudulently using yourself, the SPR, and others, to promote himself?
It is surely a very odd remark from yourself, to suggest that one should contribute to the coffers of a fraudster in order to ascertain his fraudulent activity? And what about those who purchase his books expecting to find evidence of real paranormal activity? Are they to be refunded, when the case is finally ascertained to be a complete load of hogwash? If so, then should they ask Mr Linder for a refund? Or, should they come knocking at your door, as it was yourself that urged the purchase?

    Like

    1. Again you’re missing my point as you seem blinded by stating Linder to be fraudulent. I personally have not looked into the case itself in detail to make such an assumption, I’ve read only the books he has produced on his supposed experiences. I’m not in the position to make a claim whether those experiences are real or not. Equally I’m not about to place myself in a position, I’m not telling anyone to buy anything I’m merely providing my opinion on the matter. Anyone looking to purchase anything should look to obtain multiple views. Then from those multiple views ascertain how best to proceed.

If we evaluate the book itself there are some points of concern which I think you’re possibly attempting to highlight here – the case is presented by Linder himself. Which is fine and who better to do so if the activity is real. However in order to validate the case we need the viewpoint of Tina and of Mera or Philips. There was also a couple of others too. To date I believe only Mera has a report on his investigation on which (from media not the report) he appears to support Linders story. In regards to the case I’ve yet to review other material in order to define the validity of the case and Linders testimony.

If the case is proven to be ‘a complete load of hogwash’ then it will only be so by either Linders admission, in which case perhaps you may have a case regarding refunds. I’m no legal eagle though so can’t say so. Or through proper evaluation of the facts and testimony. As I have been stating. And as I’ve been stating I think the case needs proper evaluation to see if it is as fantastical as Linder proposes.
To be clear I’m urging no one to make any purchases simply providing an opinion of what I’ve read.

      1. No, I was never reinstated. Nor has any other site that I’ve been thrown out of. Excepting Michael Prescott’s blog. I was booted out twice upon there. As far as my identity goes; I have upset too many people in the past, to use my actual identity. I don’t wish to have to keep looking over my shoulder at possible dangers.
Anyway, Stuart Certain is a perfectly acceptable name to use. It is the psychic name that Janet gave to me, and was divined by herself from the Ouija-board.

      2. Thank you. I’m currently relating the events at Enfield upon CJ Romer’s site – Polterwotsit. Theres some way to go yet, and I’ve been very quiet regarding comments upon there, of late. Still, I hope to resume there, soon. I am fairly principled about these matters, and should wish to finish there before I consider anything else. It may well be that, once finished upon there I shall bow out from speaking of paranormal matters entirely. These experiences take their toll, you know?

  9. I was never MH. Stuart will do. I was also FRED, by the way. That was the first psychic name that Janet gave me. I wasn’t happy with that, and asked her to re-divine it.

  10. I don’t mind. I’ve been called worse. I actually found a previously undiscovered grouping of these creatures whilst exploring Google maps. It was the best and most convincing evidence that I’d ever seen! More compelling than the Cottingley photographs, in fact!
I posted the link upon Michael Prescotts blog, but have no knowledge if it remains. I have searched again, but unfortunately G. maps have recovered the route, and they are no longer found there.

  11. I also posted the link upon Fortean forums. Again, I have no knowledge if that is still showing upon there? I’m wondering if google are able to provide a retro version of their maps? If so, then they could be found again. I should really have offered the discovery to the press, I think? They would have generated much interest, I’m convinced.
